Ridgeline is a unique truck in the US market. The Japanese carmaker keeps its pickup on the unibody platform, making it sportier than rivals. Well, this type of truck is a dying specie in the US soil, but the 2021 Honda Ridgeline manages to survive. Buyers are looking for heavy haulers. Well, the mid-size models are not providing the leading numbers, but it is still a satisfying outcome if you don’t need more than 8,000 pounds of towing capacity.
The new 2021 Honda Ridgeline will bring some changes to refresh the interest. It was the slowest-selling pickup last year. It triggered the alarm in the company and the immediate reaction is not going to miss. One of the major changes for the upcoming vehicle should be the Type R performance truck, which we expect for a long time. Still, other versions might be cool as well, such as Redline Edition.
2021 Honda Ridgeline Redesign
The truckmaker already made some moves towards the modernization of the pickup. However, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto won’t solve the situation. The new look is required and the truck could share the destiny with the flagship model, Honda Pilot. These two vehicles share a lot of things in common, so it won’t be a surprise if we see the Ridgeline inspired with the SUV’s new look.
The bad thing is that we don’t know much about either of them. Pilot was spotted in streets under a heavy camo. So, the new design is on the way. We hope the 2021 Honda Ridgeline will bring similar upgrades, since it is time for the mid-cycle redesign. The pickup was launched in 2017 and ever since the company hasn’t invested a lot into its look.
Interior is Already Improved
The new truck for the current season introduced a couple of cool things that should draw more buyers. For example, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto became standard services. Plus, Honda worked on the safety, so this segment is also covered for a couple years from now. The reduction of trim levels just to four models might mean the new version is on the way. If opposite situation happened, we would be suspicious – why would Honda expand the lineup if the new model is on the way?
2021 Honda Ridgeline Specs
The single engine of the existing pickup is both good and bad thing. The sporty pickup is getting enough power from a V6 unit, like its rivals. On the other hand, the towing capacity is not as good as for others, mostly thanks to the lighter unibody platform. A new nine-speed transmission is introduced and it will boost the fuel economy, like it does on the Pilot SUV. Still, the architecture is limiting the off-road capabilities of the 2021 Honda Ridgeline. But, you are getting a reliable and durable unit with 280 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.
2021 Honda Ridgeline Price
The base 2021 Honda Ridgeline will be more expensive than its rival. But, don’t be tricked – Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado, and others, are offering four-pot units for the entry levels. With a V6, prices are very similar. It is up to you if you want to pick a sportier ride the Ridgeline is offering, or a better towing capacity of BoF trucks.
