Ford is launching the new V8 engine for its largest vehicles. It is a surprise why F-150 Raptor is still using a twin-turbo V6 unit. Well, it is still capable to do some serious damage with its hp and torque outputs. But, neither to V6 or a 7.3-liter Godzilla can match outputs of the upcoming 2021 RAM Rebel TRX truck with the Hellcat engine.
But, the company has a response. The ace upon a sleeve is a 5.2-liter supercharged V8. The new Mustang Shelby GT500 will get over 700 hp out of it. That will be enough to compete with the Hellcat unit. It seems like the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 could spoil the plans of the FCA to steal the show with the launch of its 2021 RAM Rebel TRX.
2021 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 VS 2021 RAM Rebel TRX Specs
Sources, such as Motor Authority or Ford Authority, are providing more details about the arrival of Shelby’s engine for the performance-oriented truck. The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 will get a supercharged unit. With 700+ horsepower, it can challenge the upcoming 2021 RAM Rebel TRX. The FCA is tuning the 6.2-liter supercharged engine to create 707 hp. Still, there are two other versions bursting 717 and 797 ponies. Well, the truck is not getting so much power. 707 horsepower seemed to be enough to leave the competition in the dust. But, not so fast. Ford is yet to say its final word.
Chevy Silverado Is Also Getting Performance Version
Spy photos of the special version of the new Silverado 1500 are out for a while. Fans immediately started to ask if it is the ZR2 model. But, no responses are coming from the GM. Well, it is just a matter of time when will all three truckmakers go the same path, but we need to see the first move. FCA announced it at the premiere of the new Ram 1500 (clock at a display set at 7:07).
2021 RAM Rebel TRX Release Date
So, we know the company is serious about the high-performance model. The Hellcat engine is already part of the SUV lineup thanks to the Jeep Grand Cherokee. But, many truckers would like to test a 700+ hp beast in the near future. The company gave us hints, but not the possible release date for the 2021 RAM Rebel TRX. The 2020 YM is not getting the special version, and the season after that must be the one to bring us the Hellcat engine.
2021 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 Details
The V8 is almost a certain novelty for the Raptor. But, we didn’t see the supercharged 5.2-liter unit coming. We thought that the Blue Oval company is replacing the current 3.5-liter V6 with an all-new 7.3-liter displacement, capable to produce 430-450 hp. Well, a retuning could offer more power. But, Ford is taking threats from the FCA very seriously.
The next season is going to be more interesting than ever in the performance-oriented truck segment. Which side do you choose: 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 or 2021 RAM Rebel TRX?
