The 2020 Nissan Navara is bringing some interesting changes. Exterior, interior, engine room… the Japanese company is refreshing all segments. However, the modifications are not big enough to launch the new generation yet. The current version of the pickup truck dates back from 2014 and it still can compete with rivals.
Navara is available worldwide. In the USA, Nissan is offering it as Frontier. What’s more, Mercedes is using Navara’s platform for its X-Class pickup. Definitely, the truck is very popular in Australia. Its durability and reliability are appreciated by truckers, especially when it comes to the work in outskirts and tough off-road condition. Changes on the new 2020 Nissan Navara will make it tougher, more efficient, and eye-catching.
Changes Under the Hood
The most favorite engine for the Navara was a 2.3-liter turbodiesel unit. A four-pot drivetrain was able to produce 161 hp and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. Now, the new setup boosts the twist to 425 Nm (315 lb-ft). Also, there are more powerful versions with 160 and 190 horsepower, respectively. Whatsoever, engineers reduced the emissions and drivetrains are now meeting Euro 6d-temp standards.
Besides the torque upgrade, the 2020 Nissan Navara is getting a new transmission. For the Australian market, there is a six-speed manual gearbox. However, it will be an optional upgrade, since the standard offer includes an automatic case. The new one provides a shorter shift pattern. Also, longer ratios will improve fuel economy.
Also, the new 2020 Navara replaces brake drums with discs and calipers at rear wheels, and front wheels are getting larger discs. The braking force is going to be reduced/ Furthermore, the multi-link rear suspension will improve overall driving impression and off-road performance. Engineers are adding dual-stage coil springs to all trim levels. The ground clearance comes with an inch of extra space than before. On the other hand, some version will be heavier.
2020 Nissan Navara Facelift
Designers had a lot of work as well to prepare changes on the 2020 Nissan Navara. The highlights are definitely new LED lamps with black bezel design and the new patterns for wheels. 17 and 18 inches is the size.
Inside the cabin, there is a new infotainment system. Unfortunately, this is the only change and it also brings the 8-inch touchscreen display at the center of the dashboard. Standard features are N-Connecta and Apple CarPlay. Nissan is still considering the addition of Android Auto. Navigation is optional for higher grades of the truck.
2020 Nissan Navara V6
This is still a big wish of enthusiasts. Unfortunately, the 2020 Nissan Navara V6 is not happening next year. The truck would get the same drivetrain as its US sibling. A 4.0-liter displacement is producing 260 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque (195 kW, 380 Nm).
2020 Nissan Navara Price
Australia, Pacific Asia, and the UK are the main markets where Navara achieves the best sales. Next year, the price is going up a bit. In the United Kingdom, it starts at 23,000 pounds and Australian fans can get it for $38,000. Navara is not heading to the US. Besides the Mercedes X-Class, it also shares the platform with Renault Alaskan.
