The 2500HD towing gets an increase by about 200 pounds but the payload has seen a decrease. GM is yet to give an explanation for this decrease.
The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD, on the other hand, is rated with a maximum payload of 7,513 lbs and towing maximum 23,300 lbs. The best in payload rating is the 4X2 regular can 6.0-liter V8 gasoline power while for the towing specs it is best in the 4X4 6.6-liter V8 Duramax-powered Silverado. While the towing rating will get a 100 lbs increase from the preceding 2016 Silverado, the payload remains the same.
The 2017 Silverado gets a new roll-formed steel cargo box. This is much better compared to traditional stamped steel boxes because it is not only stronger but lighter as well. It secures loads better. The bed liner is installed at the factory giving these Chevies a water-sealed and quality backbone. No damage will occur to this truck in a very long time. This is a massive 48 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque improvement from the 2016 Silverado. This increase in power has been enabled by strong and stiff cylinder heads, and tall engine blocks.
